Fifth Wave directed by J Blakeson

The Fifth Wave directed by J Blakeson has a screenplay by Susannah Grant, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner is based on a novel with the same title as the movie which is The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. The main casts of this movie are Chlo렇race Moretz who played the role of Cassie Sullivan, Zackary Arthur as Sam Sullivan, Nick Robinson played Ben Parish nicknamed as Zombie, Alex Roe as Evan Walker, Ron Livingston as Oliver Sullivan, Maggie Siff as Lisa Sullivan, Maria Bello as Sergeant Reznik , Maika Monroe as Ringer and Liev Schreiber as Colonel Vosch. It was released in 22nd January, 2016. The budget for this film was 35 million dollars and it earned 110.7 million dollars in box office.

The 5th Wave is based on how the world became apocalyptic and the thrills Cassie Sullivan had to face in order to get to her brother. This movie took place in Ohio and it started off with a lot of suspense because a terrified and suspicious looking girl was running across a forest and later she is shown shooting a guy because she thought he had something harmful on his hand. Her expression made it clear that something terrible is happening around her. Then she takes her audience to a flashback where she reveals her identity as Cassie Sullivan and talks about her high school life as a teenager. Like every other normal teenager, she had a loving family and friends. She even had a crush on high-school football heartthrob Ben Parish. But as soon as a spacecraft hoovered over the Ohio city pushing the entire city in darkness, Cassies chilled and normal life also got hidden in that dark.

It all started with the first wave which was an electromagnetic pulse that made all the network and electricity disappear from the earth, making cars and planes to crash; the second wave consists of massive tsunamis and earthquakes; the third wave destroyed a huge portion of the survivors via a deadly virus carried by birds that killed Cassies mom, but some people remain immune to it. Her father took Cassie and her little brother Sam to a refugee camp of survivors which was soon taken over by a unit of soldiers. They made people believe that they are transporting the kids to a safe place but Cassie missed the bus which separated her from her brother. When she came back, she had to face her fathers death and she realized what the fourth wave was. Chloe performance was worth of five stars because she showed her hurtful emotions through her eyes, she acted like the bravest girl in the world even though she had extreme fear inside her. Then comes the sudden entry of Evan Walker who promises the poor girl to get to her brother Sam. On the other side, Sam and Ben was taken to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where the 4th wave manipulated all the kids and teeangers about aliens or The Others being inside human and the soldiers prepared them for the 5th wave. But, better late than never, Ben realized that they are The 5th Wave and the people they are killing are the remaining survivors left on earth.

Yanceys source novel managed to blend the bittersweet desire of a teenage girl on the edge of adulthood with the demands of a filmy global disaster that transformed her into a deadened, hard-hearted survival robot. The final act took place in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where Cassie and Ben reunites and takes her brother along with Bens unit and drove away from there. Evan helped them by shutting off the security cameras and at the end, he blew away the entire place with bomb. But the units commander survived and flew away with his helicopter. The movie ends with Cassie speaking about the hope which is the driving force of survival for human.

Critics have compared this book favorably to The Hunger Games and The Road, and noted that it "should do for aliens what Twilight did for vampires." Since the story reveals all the 4 waves and the back story tells us what the fifth wave is. According to an article of inverse.com, the 5th wave isn’t just a sci fi movie but its actually a terrifying and real concept. Also according to David Rapoports concept of fifth wave terrorism, the act of terror has existed since 1880, and has evolved over time. Rapoport organized these collective changes in terrorism and called them: anarchist, anti colonialist, New-Left, and religious. Given that each wave of terrorism has lasted, around forty years, were due for a fifth wave in 2025. In my opinion. this movie was great. It justifies the title. It was very exciting, mysterious, cool and thrilling. I love watching movies that can keep me hooked to it. The 5th Wave succeeded in doing so and it also promotes a good moral. It teaches us that No matter how hard the situation gets, if we use our hopes as weapons, we can get over with any obstacles in life.
